Move-In Registration

Move-in registration opens on June 3 and closes on July 19.

To ensure an efficient registration process, residents will receive a time slot to log into the student portal to register for a move-in arrival time. Time slots will be generated via a lottery, and residents will receive an email to their Auburn email account with their time slot. Residents will log into the portal during their time slot to register for a move-in day and arrival time. If you are unable to access the portal during your designated time slot, do not worry because you will be able to access the portal at any time after your initial time slot opens. Students will be able to change their move-in time, if space is available, by logging into their housing student portal and canceling their original time. Students who do not register for a move-in date will be automatically assigned a move-in day and time during our Regular Move-In.

Move-In Package Guidelines

Students may start having packages delivered no earlier than one week prior to their move-in date. When the student arrives on campus they are free to pick up their packages from their designated mail room. Mail room hours and locations can be found on the Mail Services website. Mail Services will hold packages for 14 days from the first day of the semester, after that, the packages will be returned to sender. The student must pick up their packages with their ID; no other designee, including parents, can pick up the mail.

Please visit the Mail Services website for more information: https://fm.auburn.edu/mail-services/#students

 Move-In Arrival Information

Arrival Times

The first arrival time will be at 7 a.m. (CT) and the last arrival time will be at 3 p.m. (CT) each day.  Residents will choose their arrival time slot during move-in registration.

Residents will not be able to move into their residence hall until their designated arrival time. If you arrive before your arrival time, you will be asked to come back at your designated time. Your arrival time is when you should arrive on campus, not necessarily when you will be moving into your room.

Check-In Information and Locations

Upon arrival on campus, residents will proceed directly to their designated check-in location.

For residents moving into the Village, Quad, and South Donahue Halls, tents will be placed at each housing area and will function as centralized check-in locations. Hill residents will check in at Sasnett Hall. Residents moving into 191 College, 160 Ross and the Union will check in at the property’s respective parking garage. See designated check-in locations with linked Pindrops below.

**Students moving in to Magnolia Hall, South Donahue, 160 Ross or 191 College on Aug. 3 will check-in at the tent located on Extension Loop.

Residents will drive up to their designated check-in location during their designated move-in arrival day and time. Residents will provide housing staff with their name, their move-in QR code, and a photo ID. AUH staff will check the resident in and give them their room key. Once their arrival time has been verified by a staff member, checked in, and received their room key, they will proceed to the unloading zone. Residents will receive a check-in email that will include a Room Condition Form (RCF) to be filled out after arriving at the room before the student begins moving in.

Unloading Information

Each housing area will have a designated unloading area. The unloading area will be marked clearly with signage. When residents arrive at their unloading zone after checking in, they will unload their items immediately. Residents can place items on the curb while they move their vehicle from the unloading zone to the designated parking area (see Parking section below). If students have guests assisting them with move-in, we recommend having one person move the car while another person waits with their items.

Since our move-in spans over three weeks, we will not have volunteers or equipment available during move-in. We encourage residents to bring their own move-in equipment, such as wagons or dollies. Residents and their guests will be responsible for unloading and carrying items to their room. Do not forget to write your name on your items. Also, we highly recommend that students pack light for move-in. Packing light is key to a quick and easy move-in. Below is a list of tips to help students pack light for move-in.

  • Coordinate with your roommate before buying shareable items such as a mini fridge, microwave, shower curtain, etc.
  • Visit our checklist page on University Housing’s website for a list of items to bring/not to bring.
  • Make sure the boxes you pack are light and easy to carry.
  • Use your storage bins as packing boxes.
  • Focus on the necessities. Pack only what you need or what you cannot buy once you arrive in Auburn.

In the event of rain, we encourage residents to bring tarps to cover items once unloaded or use something like these moving bags to protect their items if it rains.

Residents will be limited to two vehicles in the unloading zone. No box trucks and/or trailers will be allowed.

Parking

Move-In Day Parking

Once residents finish unloading their belongings in the unloading area, all vehicles need to be moved to the designated parking listed below by housing area.

Designated Parking Lots

Resident Parking After Move-In

Residents will need to move their vehicle to their registered parking area after their move-in day is completed. For more information regarding parking permits for the academic year, please visit the Parking Services website.

**Hill residents: should move their vehicles to the Hayfield gravel lot until all the move-in days are completed on August 15.

Resident Hall Access

Residence hall doors will be open from 7 a.m. until 5 p.m. (CT). Doors will lock at 5 p.m. (CT), and residents will need their Tiger ID to have access to their residence halls after moving in. For more information on how to download your Tiger ID, please visit the Tiger ID website. Residents living at 160 Ross, 191 College and The Union will use their key fobs to gain access.
